Skulpturny Park

I've roughed out the map that attaches to the left of the Schnellhefter Block. I'm using a lot of placeholders for many of the buildings and the gulley is unfinished, as are the heights and slopes. I've got to re-work the Park terrain- it looks fine onscreen but prints funny for some reason.
Tentatively, next up when I finish this one is Silicate Plant No 3 (To the North of this map).

How I handle rubble

I've recieved a few requests on how I handle rubble on my maps, as I create them "undestroyed". I use a rubble pattern printed on a transparent sheet of hexes of that same size which can then be cut to size. They generally stick to the maps by their own static electricity, but I can use other various substances if required.

Schnellhefter Block ver 1

I've completed Schnellhefter Block (version 1). My next map is to the left of this one (Skulpturny Park- where the bulk of that park is located).

Let me know what you think !

For reference, this is a 40"x40" map with 1.5 inch hexes. The road grid had to be modified a little (Skulpturnaya street should be a straight line, but due to the angle and the hex grid had to be modified a little). The stairwells (for ASL) are at best a guess. I didn't detect any walls on any of my maps/photos, and the area was pretty much very open (24th Panzer Division fought there and had a good mix up with some remnants of Soviet armored units) and this was a launch point for the attack on the Red Barricades Factory).

Schnellhefter Block update and an apology

I've updated my Schnellhefter Block map. I've added Skulpturny Park (the left hand side) and re-structured the bottom of the map with some new info I've recieved. Also, you can see some of the scratch work off to the right (trees, buildings, etc)- its like a CAD scratch pad :D

I'm sorry for no pics from historicon- they somehow got corrupted :( Still, I'd like to thank everyone who particpated in Sea Sick Sailors:

Romans:Troy Turner, Conner Turner*, William Miller, Daniel Catapano

Carthaginians:Joseph ,Schmidt, Allen Hughes, Sam Nitsch, John Castillo*

* denotes fleet admiral

Also I'd like to thank the folks who particpated in my WWI game Stahlengewittern:

The Germans: Scott Cramer, Mathew Downey,Harry Morris,Kevin Cocking

I'll try to do better next time with AARs etc.

I hope to see some of you guys next year for both games !

Northern Stalingrad- Schnellhefter Block Map

I've got the basic design down for the Schnellhefter Block in Stalingrad. Its at approx 40 meters a hex. Its standard size is 40" x 40" with 1.5" hexes.

I've got to put in Skulpturny Park (Towards the bottom left) and some brush-type areas, as well as finishing what the athletic field (the gray oval) is going to look like. I've also got to put some of slope hexsides (ala KGP HASL module) and the background coloring scheme and all the finishing touches (e.g. staircases, layers properly on top of one another etc.)

This area is just West of the Gun Factory (which is a little off the bottom of the map). It took a little "fudging" because of the hex grid, but I think I got it about right. Eventually I hope to have vast parts of Stalingrad mapped out on this scale.

Back from Historicon !

I had a great time at the convention. I met and gamed with a lot of nice folks there and got a ton of ideas for things to do. Special thanks to those who participated in my 2 games and came by and commented on my maps I had on display. I look forward to cooperating with the folks I met who have projects in mind.

Unfortunately, my camera was not as cooperative and I lost some of the pictures I took. Sometime in the next week or so I'll start another blog linked to this one with convention stuff (pictures etc) that will be linked to this one. Now for a bit of rest.....

Then again, maybe not....

I've got the urge to try to due the Schnellhefter Block in Stalingrad in 40 meters and I've got some good Prokorovka scale maps to work with for sme 200/250 meter work. So much to do.......
